Policy and Strategy
National and Local government, agencies and businesses come to us for assistance in drafting policy and guidance relating to urban greening, roof greening, sustainable drainage and climate change adaptation. Our clients include Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, the Greater London Authority (we prepared London’s living roof policy and helped to develop the Urban Greening Factor tool), Grosvenor Britain & Ireland and the RSPB, amongst others.
As part of the background work on the new London Plan, we undertook a review of Urban Greening Factor (or Green Space Factor) schemes operated in major cities across the world. We have subsequently advised Swansea Council, The City of London Corporation and Telford and Wrekin Council the Urban Greening Factor/ The Urban Greening Factor assigns scores to planning proposals and set targets, which enable planners to make simple and reliable assessments of the extent and functionality of green infrastructure. These schemes have already proven their worth in several cities, including Berlin and Washington DC, driving up the quality of green infrastructure in development.
